Marina Maintenance Update

  • Completed Maintenance
    • Turned on and systematically checked parking lot lights – left side and right side all working and well pump working
    • Trimmed Marina basin grass
    • Power washed Marina porch area
    • Continued minor wooden dock repairs on decking holes
    • Continued fixing rub-rails, pedestal lights, stain, and dock repairs (Dockmaster)
    • Continued repair of Pedestal bases with stained cut plywood pieces

    • Repair Security camera #2 on corner of porch – not working. (President)

Marina Business Update

  • Previous Business
    • Held meeting with Seagrass Plantation on beach replenishment; follow-up with their engineer consultant July 30, 2024
    • Continue updates of Slip Owner and Renter required documents; Secretary, Dockmaster, President
    • Conducted drone fly-over video and pictures of Marina and marsh area – low and high tide (Dave D.)
    • Review Slips for Rent and Sale on Marina website

      • 3 x Slips for Sale (C-24 $54K, F-08 $60K, H-34 $59.5K)
  • New and Ongoing Business
    • Prepare summary of current Sussex County Tax assessments of representative slips for presentation to the Board. (Secretary).
    • Review use of tidal flap on two discharge pipes entering Marina basin from marsh area along G Dock (and H Dock)

        • Previous Marina dredging conducted December 1-31, 2017, $100+K, Clarke Droney (estimate was $27 cyd)
        • Current estimates for dredge companies range $65 – $120 per cyd ($266.5K – $492K)
        • Clarke Droney available 2025 and 2026 to dredge
      • Meetings with Indian River Acres, Brian Lisiewski, PE, to discuss their upcoming dredge plan; 10K cyds to dredge
        • Upcoming meeting with Rep Ron Gray, PE, on dredging costs
      • Finalizing dredge material spoil site
        • Land owner – Chris Magee, Frankford
        • Price is $3.25 per cyd (4,100 cyds x $3.25 = $13,325)
      • Conduct 2024/25 bathymetric study on just the dredge area prior to dredging

Future Business

  • Conduct survey of Slip Owners on Marina replacement and assessment
  • 2024/5 – Plan and host Delaware Boater Safety Course conducted by the USCG Auxiliary Indian River Station.  Slip Renter is Instructor.  Cost is $20 per student
  • Marina Replacement proposals; previous estimate August 2020 at $3.8M, and May 2023 at $4.35M (UPDATE)
    • Review Capital Improvement loan information with banks
