Approval and web posting of Minutes from August Monthly Board Meeting held on August 15, 2023.

  Upfront Items for Decision or Information

  • New 2023-24 Board of Directors in-place. All positions remained the same
  • Retrieval and replacement of Red Buoy by TowBoatUS
  • Well pump replaced (Daisy Wells, Dagsboro Plumbing) – they recommended replacing the well tank. Decision to go forward is yes in off-season.
  • Operation Seas the Day completed – outstanding support – thank you.
  • Winterization of the Marina; winter buoys, water turn-off, office shut-down, Dockmaster work complete.

Marina Financial Update

  • Review Marina Monthly Budget spreadsheet
  • Slip transactions update
  • Slips sold
    • New Slip Owner addresses
    • Welcome email sent to new Slip Owners (Mike)

Marina Maintenance Update

  • Completed Maintenance
    • Dock carpentry repairs – PJ Handyman. Paid in full up to date.  One item remaining – Dock A/Gate #1 under bracing.
    • Install zinc anodes and place on docks to monitor throughout season
    • Repaired electrical on F-Dock
    • Repaired ground electrical box in grass
    • Repaired Gate #2 to close properly
    • Completed Annual Fire Inspection
  • New and Ongoing Maintenance
    • Cut down tree sapling around Marina basin; set date to complete
    • Replace dock pedestal lights; inspect next week
    • Replace parking lot light bulbs, as needed; 2 x unsafe to change out because too close to rocks; one socket is broke (center)
    • Retrieve and change out Summer Red and Green buoys with Winter buoys and replace chains and repair worn buoy eye-lets

Marina Business Update

    • Updated Slip Owner board, files, and database with new information (Secretary update)
    • Ongoing – updated Constant Contact list with Slip Owners and Slip Renters

      • 3 x Slips for Rent (B-5, F-7, G-3)

    • Coordinate with DNREC to get on distribution list for annual fish and hunting magazine and fish ruler (delivered to Marina address)

      • Boating remains the number one event during OSTD
      • 2023 dates were Wed, Thur, Fri mornings, September 6, 7, 8; looking to change the days and drop Wednesday
      • OSTD 2024 dates;
    • Marina Dredge Plan and date; Dates will be set once all permits are in place.
      • Permitting process with DNREC and USACE
      • DNREC – 3 years; USACE – 10 years (USACE permit is good)
      • Previous Marina dredging conducted December 1-31, 2017, $100+K
      • Acquired new Permit Contractor, Edward Launay (we formerly used Dr. Evelyn Maurmeyer, Dredging, Coastal & Estuarine Research, Inc., at a cost of around $3.5K)
      • Review scope of work
    • Set-up meeting in October with Engineering firm that studied Seagrass Plantation – invite Dredging Consultant, Ed Launay, also, and possibly Rob Plitko, surveyor
    • Review Marina Monthly activity task list for October, November, December

Future Business

  • Conduct survey of Slip Owners on Marina replacement and assessment
  • 2024 – Plan and host Delaware Boater Safety Course conducted by the USCG Auxiliary Indian River Station.  Slip Renter is Instructor.  Cost is $20 per student.
  • Marina Replacement proposals; previous estimate August 2020 at $3.8M, and May 2023 at $4.35M
    • Review Capital Improvement loan information with Banks
